Celebrating Diversity With Our Beer
Since the beginning of our journey a core part of us as a company has been to ensure that we brew beer for all. We truly believe that there is a beer out there for everyone, but this year we wanted to take that a step further and celebrate pride month.
We are sharing pride in our craft with LGBTQ+ people and celebrating diversity through our new brew, Proud As Helles. The beer our own take on a traditional helles lager.
Stonewall Scotland
It would be incredibly easy and completely wrong of us to stick a rainbow label on a can of beer and call it a day. We wanted to ensure that our Proud As Helles brew helps to make real change and supports LGBTQ+ people. We want to brew beer for all and enjoy beer with everyone all year round, not just in June.
Stonewall are an incredible charity who stand for lesbian, gay, bi and trans (LGBTQ+) people across Britain. They imagine a world where all LGBTQ+ people are free to be themselves and can live their lives to the full.
We have made a contribution of £2,500 to support the fantastic work of Stonewall Scotland, and we are delighted to be a part of their Diversity Champions Programme to ensure that all of our LGBTQ+ staff are free to be themselves in our workplace. Over the coming year we will be working closely with Stonewall to ensure that we not only say “LGBTQ+ people are welcome here”, but go above and beyond to make that a reality.
The Beer Itself
A beer to be enjoyed by everyone, Proud as Helles (5.1% ABV) has additions of dark Munich malt, which shifts the focus away from the traditional German lager’s hop character and instead focuses on delectable brioche flavours.
Mildly spicy and hints of citrus garnish the earthy characters of ‘Proud as Helles’, originating from the traditional noble hop tettnang. This beer is an amber colour, slightly darker than Cold Town Lager, with a bit more bitterness to help balance the sweetness from the darker malt.
Proud As Helles is available in draught and cans at bars across Scotland, and can also be ordered directly to your home via our website.
